Koila, Uppinangady: A poultry revolution is on the horizon.
In a major boost to Karnataka’s poultry sector, Puttur MLA Ashok Kumar Rai has announced that a Rs 100-crore poultry project is set to take shape in Koila, Uppinangady. The initiative has received strong backing from the Minister for Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, K Venkatesh, who has agreed to lease 50 acres of government land for the project.
Rai stated that a company is ready to invest in a modern poultry facility that will not only uplift the region’s agri-economy but also create over 1,000 jobs for the local population. “The land is currently under the department’s jurisdiction, and the minister has positively responded to our request to sanction it for this purpose,” he added.
This state-of-the-art poultry farm aims to bring innovation and scale to local poultry production, enhancing both employment and regional development. The initiative is expected to benefit farmers, entrepreneurs, and suppliers connected to the poultry ecosystem.
In a related development, the MLA also advocated for the extension of the multi-village drinking water scheme to benefit Vitla and surrounding areas in his constituency. He discussed the matter with Aijaz Hussain, Chief Engineer of Karnataka Rural Water Supply and Sanitation, ensuring that the residents of Vitla will be included in the ongoing project.
This dual-focus on agriculture and rural infrastructure reflects a comprehensive vision for sustainable rural growth in Dakshina Kannada.
