🐥 Capacity Building Programme Empowers Anjaw Farmers with Vanaraja Poultry Units

MOSHAI (Anjaw District): A two-day Capacity Building cum Input Distribution Programme was successfully organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Anjaw at Vibrant Village, Moshai, under the Tribe Sub Plan (TSP) component on 12th–13th December 2024.

As part of the initiative, 2,500 Vanaraja chicks, along with feeders, drinkers, and feed, were distributed among 40 beneficiaries from Kibithoo circle, helping them set up small-scale poultry units. The effort aims to empower tribal farmers, boost rural livelihoods, and promote scientific, sustainable poultry farming in high-altitude regions.

Dr. Debasis Sasmal, Senior Scientist-cum-Head, KVK Anjaw, led training sessions on poultry management, focusing on bird health during extreme winter. Khoisnam Naveen (SMS, Agronomy) emphasized the importance of pre-Rabi season planning, while Er. Ugarsain (SMS, Land & Water Management Engineering) encouraged adoption of rainwater harvesting models like Jalkhund for off-season farming.

Technical Officer Inchen Namchoom discussed the role of protected cultivation in increasing vegetable yields, and Gram Chairperson Kheti Meyor motivated the farmers to become role models for nearby villages.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Keshab Gogoi, appreciating all participants and experts for their contribution to self-reliant agriculture in Anjaw’s Vibrant Villages.
