PFRC Hosts 2025 Annual Summit in Coimbatore, Highlights Nutrition, Biosecurity & Waste Management Needs

Coimbatore, Nov. 14, 2025 — The Poultry Farmers Regulatory Committee (PFRC) conducted its 2025 Annual Summit on Friday, bringing together key industry leaders to discuss pressing issues and emerging opportunities in the poultry sector. The event centered on five major themes: Nutrition, Healthy Eating, the Role of Poultry in Human Nutrition, Biosecurity Protocol – SAFE P Certification, and the Prevention of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs).

Lakshmanan, Chairman of the committee and representative of Shanthi Hatcheries, presided over the summit. In his address, he stressed the importance of robust biosecurity protocols and industry-wide collaboration to ensure sustainable poultry production.

Offering felicitations, Chinnasamy, Managing Director of Swathi Hatcheries and Secretary of the PFRC, highlighted the growing popularity of broiler chicken as an affordable and accessible source of high-quality protein. He noted a significant rise in individual chicken consumption over recent years, driven by rising awareness of balanced nutrition and changing food habits.

Chinnasamy further emphasized India’s regional growth in broiler production, pointing out that Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Telangana are currently leading the sector. Tamil Nadu, in particular, remains at the forefront due to its favourable climatic conditions and strong poultry farming ecosystem.

A key appeal raised during the summit was the demand for a centralised rendering plant to handle poultry waste. Chinnasamy urged the Tamil Nadu Government’s Department of Animal Husbandry to establish a facility that would serve Pollachi, Udumalai, Coimbatore, and Palladam. Such a plant, he stated, would be instrumental in helping major broiler-producing towns manage poultry waste efficiently and sustainably.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ramasamy, Managing Director of Senthil Hatcheries and Treasurer of the PFRC, who expressed gratitude to the attendees, stakeholders, and experts for their participation and continued support toward improving the poultry sector.
