Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, CON, is currently in Beijing, China, to conclude high-level talks with the Chinese Government on the proposed Model Integrated Poultry Development Project — a transformational investment expected to create over 350,000 direct and indirect jobs and generate more than $450 million annually.
The announcement was made by the Kaduna State Commissioner for Information, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, who confirmed that the governor’s visit follows earlier engagements with the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, H.E. Yu Dunhai, in Abuja.
Governor Sani is accompanied by a Federal Government delegation led by Mr. Joseph Tegba, Director-General of the Nigeria–China Strategic Partnership, highlighting the project’s national importance and strategic impact on food security.
A Major Boost for Poultry and Agribusiness
Valued at $200 million, the project aims to:
- Strengthen Nigeria’s food security framework
- Boost poultry production and reduce import dependence
- Accelerate agro-industrialisation
- Expand poultry export capacity
- Position Kaduna as a premier modern agribusiness hub in West Africa
Industry experts say the integrated model — which includes hatcheries, feed mills, processing facilities, breeder farms, and cold-chain logistics — could be a game-changer for the Nigerian poultry value chain.
Meetings With Chinese Investment and Technology Leaders
While in Beijing, Governor Sani is scheduled to hold strategic meetings with:
- China Communications Construction Company (CCCC)
- Key agritech and commercial partners
- International financing and development institutions
These engagements are expected to finalise financing structures, technology transfer agreements, and operational timelines.
A Win for Youth Employment and Economic Growth
According to Maiyaki, the initiative aligns with Kaduna State’s commitment to youth empowerment, job creation, and sustainable agricultural growth.
“This project will open new opportunities for young people and significantly enhance Kaduna’s food production capacity,” he stated.
Federal Support Appreciated
Governor Sani expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for selecting Kaduna as the pilot state for the programme and extended gratitude to the People’s Republic of China for its continued support in Nigeria’s agricultural transformation agenda.
📌 Eggora Insight:
If executed successfully, this partnership could become one of the largest poultry-focused agribusiness projects in Africa — benefiting farmers, processors, feed manufacturers, and the broader livestock ecosystem.
