Vijayawada: In a welcome move for the poultry sector, the Andhra Pradesh government has exempted poultry farmers from paying development and betterment charges for constructing poultry sheds and farms within urban areas.
These charges—typically levied by urban local bodies (ULBs) and urban development authorities (UDAs)—had long been a financial burden on poultry operators. However, a new government order issued by Municipal Administration Principal Secretary S. Suresh Kumar now offers significant relief.
As per the directive, building permits and licence fees for poultry sheds in urban regions will now be aligned with the much lower charges applicable in gram panchayats. This change is in accordance with Government Order Ms No. 12, issued by the Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Department on 8 February 2016.
By standardizing the fee structure across urban and rural areas, the government aims to promote ease of doing business and boost poultry production within city limits.
