Jigawa State Partners with India’s Srinivasa Farms to Boost Poultry Sector

Hyderabad, India / Jigawa, Nigeria – In a landmark development for Nigeria’s poultry industry, Jigawa State Government, under the leadership of Governor Umar Namadi, has entered a strategic partnership with India’s leading poultry integrator, Srinivasa Farms. The move is aimed at revolutionizing poultry production in the region and aligns with Jigawa’s ambitious 12-Point Agenda for economic growth and food security.

This collaboration is a major outcome of the ongoing agricultural investment tour in India, where a high-powered delegation from Jigawa visited Srinivasa’s headquarters in Hyderabad to explore avenues of cooperation.

Founded in 1965, Srinivasa Farms has earned a reputation as a pioneer in India’s poultry ecosystem. The company leads in poultry breeding, feed production, animal health solutions, and food processing.

Key Pillars of the Partnership

Discussions between the Jigawa delegation and Srinivasa’s leadership have led to consensus on several focus areas, including:

  • Strengthening animal health and disease control strategies
  • Introducing cutting-edge hatchery and farm safety technologies
  • Offering training for Jigawa’s farmers and veterinary officers
  • Promoting co-operative models and value-chain integration at grassroots level
  • Enhancing local feed quality and affordability
  • Driving innovations in poultry science tailored for Nigerian needs

The partnership is expected to formally commence with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) in the coming weeks. Additionally, Srinivasa’s Managing Director, Mr. Suresh Chitturi, and a team of technical experts have been invited to Jigawa to evaluate on-ground implementation.

Governor Namadi emphasized the importance of this collaboration, stating:

“This partnership represents another giant leap in our commitment to agricultural transformation. With the right technology, training, and strategic alliances like this, Jigawa will emerge as a hub for poultry excellence in Nigeria.”

As Africa’s poultry landscape continues to evolve, this India-Nigeria collaboration marks a significant step toward sustainable and scalable poultry development.
